We Do The Dance

My day begins with a half-hour of play with my six and two year old sons, followed by the usual cajoling through showers, breakfast, dressing, and school drop-off. A good cup of coffee and I’m ready to settle into the challenge of the day: transforming ideas into visual images. That metamorphosis can only happen in what I call “the dance.”

It’s about understanding who you are, your needs, goals, and vision. The better we understand you, the better the dance. We’re experts at creating story—- we’ve won a multitude of awards, from the International Larry Corse Prize for writing, to a Drama-Logue award for Outstanding Sound Design, to a Reader’s Choice award in BOA and four Fringe Festival awards… not to mention a “Best of 2016” for Northern California on Thumbtack (portraits), “ and Best Wedding Photographers in Oakland(Expertise.com). And those awards were only possible because of the dance.

Hurricane Images

Hurricane Images is a media production collective founded by Ian Robin Walker, a San Francisco Bay Area videographer and photographer. We create video for small and mid-sized businesses, startups, non-profits, and artists; and personal images (such as wedding photography, Bar Mitzvahs, and portraits) for individuals.

We work with an interdisciplinary team of designers, consultants, and production crew that cumulatively have over 120 years of experience bringing projects to light. As visual artists, our work is driven by a sense of fascination with creating unique experiences that move companies and individuals towards their goals. Ian Walker has worked for over 20 years in health communication, developing

strategies and content for the CDC, CA Department of Public Health, Zero Breast Cancer, Contra Costa Department of Environmental Health, Impact Assessment Inc., Sequoia Foundation, and others; he has spent 7 years working with businesses, from multinationals like Hilton Worldwide and Bitdefender, to local family-owned outfits like Nourish Together and Rocket Interviews. He also has 25+ years as a theatre producer, designer, and director, working with companies like TheatreWorks, The Magic, Luna Stage, and Center Rep in Walnut Creek. IMBD credit.

We Know What Works

Every marketing agency, SEO specialist, and consultant will tell you that video works, and that images are powerful tools for reaching people. But that’s only part of the elephant. You have to know more than the technical aspects of raising a light and hitting record. You have to know why it works– what kinds of video resonate for your viewers and how to get it to them.

Meeting the Challenge

Too many companies spend thousands of dollars creating a video only to have 75 people watch it. For many businesses, that’s their greatest fear when it comes to producing content: lack of results, or poor ROI. With over 20 years of experience developing communication campaigns for a wide variety of companies– from federal agencies to local bakeries– we know that if our video doesn’t produce the results you want, it’s bad video. We offer a free marketing consultation to help you define (or refine) your video strategy. No contract, no credit card, no commitment.

Why do we offer this for free? All of our productions are on a per-project fee. We don’t charge by the hour, or for over-runs, or for “extras.” Our clients know exactly how much their video will cost.  This means we need to know your a lot about your goals, audience, platform, messages, and vision before we can provide pricing. And if we know that much about your video strategy, why not add our knowledge of marketing communication to make it even stronger?
